ซอยไทยเอ็ด: คู่มือคนท้องถิ่นสำหรับถนนสายฟิตเนสของภูเก็ต (2026)
Tucked away in Chalong, Soi Taied is the world's most famous fitness destination. Our local guide covers where to train, what to eat, and how to survive your first trip.
Soi Taied: The local's guide to Phuket's fitness street (2026)
If you have spent any time looking into fitness in Phuket, you have probably heard of "Soi Taied" (you might also see it spelled Soi Ta-iad or Soi Ta-ead). Tucked away in Chalong in southern Phuket, this road used to be just another quiet Thai side street. Today, it is arguably the most famous fitness destination on the planet. I live here in Phuket, and I see people from all over the world arrive every week to train, eat clean, and join this community.
I'm Grace, the community manager here at RoamFit. I spend a lot of time on this street, and I've seen it change over the years. This guide covers the basics: what to do, where to eat, and how to survive your first training trip without burning out in the tropical heat.
What exactly is Soi Taied?
Soi Taied (ซอยไทยเอ็ด) is a two-kilometer stretch of road in the Chalong area. On a map, it looks like any other Thai soi. In person, it is a dense collection of Muay Thai gyms, MMA camps, CrossFit boxes, and healthy cafes. It earned the "Fitness Street" name because you can basically walk from one end to the other and pass dozens of world-class facilities.
It is one of the few places where you will see professional UFC fighters doing roadwork right next to first-time travelers trying their very first Muay Thai class. There is no ego here, just a lot of people working hard.
Why is everyone talking about this street?
There are a few reasons why this spot became so popular:
- World-class training for less: You can get elite coaching here for a fraction of what it costs in Europe or the US. Most gyms offer day passes, which I always recommend trying before you commit to a full month.
- Everything is walkable: You can train Muay Thai in the morning, grab a protein bowl for lunch, hit a strength session, and finish with yoga, all without needing a taxi.
- The vibe: There is something infectious about being surrounded by people who are all there for the same reason. Whether you're a pro athlete or just trying to get back in shape, the community is incredibly supportive.
The main gyms on Soi Taied
There are too many to list them all, but here are the ones you'll definitely notice when you walk down the street.
Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Training Camp
This is the big one. Tiger Muay Thai opened back in 2003 and is now a massive complex. They do everything: Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ, wrestling, and fitness classes. It's famous for a reason, and they are very welcoming to beginners. If you want the "big camp" experience with lots of training partners, this is it.

AKA Thailand
If you follow MMA, you know the name. AKA Thailand is linked to the famous camp in San Jose. It is a very professional, well-run facility that attracts high-level fighters. The coaching is top-tier, especially for wrestling and MMA.

Unit 27 Total Conditioning
If you aren't into fighting but want to get fit, Unit 27 is the place. They focus on functional fitness and HIIT. Their classes are intense, but the coaching is excellent. They also run transformation programs if you're looking for a serious reset.
Sinbi Muay Thai
Sinbi has a more traditional Thai feel. It is very respected in the community and focuses heavily on technique. If you want to learn proper Muay Thai from experienced Thai trainers without the "mega-gym" commercial feel, Sinbi is a great choice.

Dragon Muay Thai
Dragon is smaller and more intimate. It is often more affordable too. If you prefer a gym where the trainers know your name after the first day, you might like the atmosphere here.

Titan Fitness Camp
Titan is a great all-rounder. They have a solid Muay Thai program but also a very good regular gym floor with weights and machines. It’s popular for people who want to mix fight training with traditional lifting.

Rattachai Muay Thai Gym
This gym has a massive following and a perfect rating for a reason. The trainers here are incredibly patient. It is one of my top recommendations for beginners who might feel a bit intimidated by the bigger camps.

Yoga Connections
You can't train hard every day without some recovery. Yoga Connections is right on the street and offers daily classes. It's the best way to stay flexible and keep your body from falling apart during a training trip.

CrossFit Chalong
For the CrossFit crowd, this box is just a short walk away. They follow official programming and are very welcoming to drop-ins from other boxes around the world.

Life on the street: Food and recovery
One of the best things about Soi Taied isn't actually the gyms, it is the food. The restaurants here know their audience. You'll find protein-packed meal prep, acai bowls, and clean Thai food everywhere. Most places have "fighter menus" with exact macros listed.
For recovery, you have Thai massage shops every few meters. A massage usually costs around 300 to 400 THB per hour. Many people also use the ice baths and saunas available at the gyms to help with the heat.
How to get here
Soi Taied is in Chalong. From the airport, a taxi will cost you between 800 and 1,200 THB and takes about 45 minutes. If you are coming from Patong, it's about a 30-minute ride. Most people just tell the driver "Tiger Muay Thai" as it's the most famous landmark on the street.
What to expect for costs in 2026
Prices have gone up a bit over the years, but it's still great value. Here is what you should budget:
| Training Type | Day Pass | Weekly | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muay Thai (group) | 400-800 THB | 2,500-5,000 THB | 8,000-15,000 THB |

A few tips for your first trip
I always tell new visitors three things. First, start with a day pass. Don't pay for a month upfront. Every gym has a different feel, and you need to find the one that fits you. Second, drink more water than you think you need. The Phuket humidity is no joke. Third, pace yourself. I see so many people go too hard in the first three days and spend the rest of their trip nursing an injury.
Also, if you rent a motorbike, please wear a helmet and be careful. The traffic around Chalong can be a bit chaotic.
Is it worth the hype?
Honestly, yes. If you love fitness, there is no other place like it. It isn't a luxury resort experience (the street itself is quite dusty and busy), but the quality of training and the people you meet make it worth it. Whether you are a pro or a complete beginner, you'll find your place here.
