Детокс и фитнес на Самуи: чего ожидать и куда пойти

Koh Samui is actually one of the few places in Southeast Asia where you can pair a serious detox with real training. It is different from the more "passive" wellness retreats in Bali. In Samui, the fitness scene is deep enough that you can actually push yourself while you clean up your diet. That said, a lot of what gets marketed as a "detox retreat" is honestly just a waste of money. Here is a look at what is actually worth your time and who each place is for.
What a detox retreat in Koh Samui actually looks like
People use the word "detox" for everything from a juice fast to a basic spa week. In Samui, it usually means juice fasting, herbal cleanses, or colon hydrotherapy, along with cutting out alcohol, caffeine, and processed food. The better programs add daily movement like yoga, Muay Thai, swimming, or hiking.
Most programs run for 3, 5, 7, or 10 days. A 3-day program is really just a reset. I usually tell people that seven days is the sweet spot. That is when you actually start feeling and looking different. Anything longer is really only for people with a very specific health goal or long-term habits they are desperate to break.
Samahita Retreat (Ban Taling Ngam, South Samui)
Samahita is on the quieter southern coast, tucked away from the noise of Chaweng and Lamai. They focus on yoga and breathwork, but they run solid detox programs too. A 7-night cleanse starts around 35,000 THB. This includes your room, daily yoga, and a supervised juice fast. They have a nice pool, a small gym, and you are right on the beach.
This is a good choice if you want a lot of structure and you are happy with a yoga-heavy schedule. Just do not come here if you are looking for high-intensity training or Muay Thai.
Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary (Laem Set, South Samui)
Kamalaya is the most famous retreat on the island and definitely the most expensive. Expect to pay between 80,000 and 150,000 THB for a week. Their detox packages are very thorough. They do blood work when you arrive, daily consultations, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The fitness side of things is pretty light compared to a training camp. You get yoga, guided walks, and some Pilates. If you want to keep moving while doing a serious physical reset, it works well. But if you want to lift heavy or do Muay Thai, you will have to head elsewhere on the island for those sessions.
Detox and Muay Thai: Can you do both?
I see people try to stack a full juice fast with intense Muay Thai all the time. Honestly, it is a mistake. Your body needs fuel to train hard, and fasting will just leave you lightheaded and weak. What actually works is combining clean eating with daily training. This means cutting out the booze, eating whole foods, and getting enough protein while training twice a day.
Lamai Muay Thai is a great spot that works well for people on a clean diet. They have morning and afternoon sessions and the trainers are good at scaling things. A drop-in is about 400 to 500 THB, while monthly packages are between 6,500 and 9,000 THB. It is a functional, no-frills place.
Santai Muay Thai in Chaweng also has fitness-focused programs. Their 10-day package includes your room, daily training, and a clean meal plan starting around 25,000 THB for a shared room.
Yoga and detox on a budget
If you want yoga and detox without the Kamalaya price tag, The Yoga Retreat Koh Samui near Nathon is a solid option. They have 5-night programs from 8,500 THB. That covers your room, twice-daily yoga, and plant-based meals. The facilities are basic, but it gets the job done.
Absolute Sanctuary in Choeng Mon is another one to check out. They mix detox with yoga and fitness classes. A 7-day program is around 42,000 THB including accommodation. The vibe is a bit more social here, which is nice if you are traveling alone.
Day programs for people with their own accommodation
If you already have a villa or hotel, you can do a detox day-by-day. Thai International Koh Samui Detox Center in Bo Phut has day programs from 1,500 THB. This includes juice, herbal supplements, and colonics. It is a good way to try a cleanse without committing to a full week.
Does the detox actually help your fitness?
A week of clean eating, no alcohol, and regular sleep will obviously make you feel better. You will lose some water weight and feel lighter. Whether the colonics and supplements do anything scientifically is up for debate, but the lifestyle change definitely gets results.
The actual fitness gains from one week are small. You are not going to transform your body in seven days. The real value is in starting habits you can actually keep up when you go home.
Who should go?
This kind of trip is best for people who have been overworking and just need a hard reset. It also works well if you are between jobs or going through a big life change.
It is not for people who think a retreat will fix a lifetime of bad habits. If you go back to beer and pizza the day you leave, the effects will fade in two weeks. The value is in the tools you take home.
Practical tips
You can fly to Samui from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi in about an hour. Flights on Bangkok Airways start around 1,200 THB. You can also take the ferry from Chumphon or Surat Thani. Stick to the south or northeast if you want peace and quiet. Chaweng is great for nightlife, but that usually makes a detox much harder.
Book at least two weeks ahead if you are coming between December and March. Some places will ask you to fill out a health form before they confirm your booking, especially for the more intense fasting programs.
