While it doesn't have the massive warehouse gyms you might find in Bangkok, Nimman offers a more intimate and specialized approach to fitness that fits the local lifestyle perfectly.
If you are looking for a traditional gym experience with plenty of space, Harris Fitness (located on the top floor of the Maya Mall) is the main player in the area. It is a large, modern facility with great views of the city. Being inside the mall is actually a huge advantage because you can finish your workout and then head straight to the food court for a healthy meal or a fresh juice. They have a good selection of machines, free weights, and a regular schedule of group classes.
For those who want something more focused on functional movement, CrossFit Chiang Mai is an institution. It was the first CrossFit box in Thailand and it has a very strong, welcoming community.
