Thailand's climate presents a real challenge for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The combination of high temperatures and extreme humidity means you have to adapt your training routine to stay safe and effective.

1. Time Your Workouts Right

Avoid the midday sun at all costs. The best times to exercise outdoors are before 8 AM or after 6 PM. If you must train during the day, choose an air-conditioned gym or a shaded, well-ventilated space.

2. Hydrate Proactively

Drinking water during your workout is not enough. You need to hydrate constantly throughout the day. Add electrolytes to your water, especially if you are sweating heavily, to replace lost sodium and potassium.

3. Adjust Your Intensity

Your heart rate will naturally be higher in hot and humid conditions. Do not expect to hit your usual personal records right away. Lower your intensity, take longer rest periods, and focus on form rather than speed or heavy weights.

4. Wear Breathable Clothing

Ditch the heavy cotton shirts. Opt for lightweight, moisture-wicking fabrics that allow your skin to breathe. Light colors are also preferable if you are training under the sun.

5. Acclimatize Gradually

If you just arrived in Thailand, give your body time to adjust. Start with shorter, lighter workouts and gradually increase the duration and intensity over one to two weeks.
